Melancholy Brown

This beautiful brown bear was painted from a photograph I took at a wildlife refuge just outside of Anchorage, Alaska. She had a look on her face that made it seem like she was in a moment of deep self reflection. She was probably just hungry, but as soon as I saw the image I knew I had to paint it. The original painting hangs over my son’s bed and keeps him from fearing any monsters in the closet.
