Among Aspens
A twilight treat
48 x 24 acrylic on canvas
I painted Among Aspens from a twilight photograph I took of a well known aspen grove just west of the Fallen Leaf Lake camp ground. Aspen paintings are a bit of a mountain town trope, but I consciously decided to stray from the ordered columns of white trunks so often seen and instead embraced the natural chaos of the grove. The low light had the added benefit of casting a blue tone across the normally white trees that I really loved.
