The Water Beside a Cormorant
The water and the bird
36 x 24 acrylic on canvas
UC Davis has a beautiful arboretum on it’s northern border that I have had the privilege of walking hundreds of times. The water that runs through the park attracts a variety of wildlife, including otters, turtles and a flight of cormorants that often dry their wings by the creek. This particular bird emerged from the water right in front of me, opened up his wings and posed for me for several minutes. I took several shots of him, but one in particular featured this complicated ripple through the water that I decided to accept as a challenge.
