Mighty Juniper

A survivor oldest than most countries
24 x 36 acrylic on canvas
I stumbled upon this gnarled beauty while exploring desolation valley near Lake Tahoe. There are many of these gritty junipers in that valley, but this one just spoke to me, it wasn’t until I started painting from my photograph that I noticed the tree had not only survived the harsh mountain elements, but someone hacking off one of its limbs as well. This valley is very special to me, and these trees are a large part of that.
